What is the Lake Washington Schools Foundation? 

The Lake Washington Schools Foundation (LWSF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the students, teachers, and families of the Lake Washington School District (LWSD). Our mission is to raise funds and amplify community resources to provide LWSD students with what they need to thrive, both now and in the future.

Does LWSF offer programs for parents and families? 

In addition to funding district initiatives, we also develop and implement Foundation programs to provide resources and support where the district’s capabilities may be limited. We offer webinars, workshops, and resources to students, parents, and educators, focusing on topics such as mental health, effective parenting strategies, and the college application process.

How can I apply for a grant from LWSF? 

Community grants may be available to students, teachers, and schools. Applications are accepted and evaluated on a rolling basis. You can submit an application online.

Donations and Fundraising 

How can I make a donation to LWSF? 

LWSF relies on private and public funding to sustain services and programs for students, families, and the community. Donations can be made online through our website on our Give Now page.  

We are also honored to accept donations in other forms, including stock transfers, donor-advised funds, estate plans, and more. Detailed information on these options is available on our our Give Now page, or you can email info@lwsf.org directly for assistance. 

Additionally, many companies offer employee giving programs that generously match an employee’s monetary contributions to qualified nonprofits. Your employer may even donate money for every hour you volunteer with us. Learn more about these opportunities on our Matching Gifts page. 

Is my donation to LWSF tax-deductible? 

Yes, LWSF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes. 

Are there opportunities to volunteer with LWSF? 

Yes! Our volunteers play a key role in supporting the mission of the Lake Washington Schools Foundation. Please visit our Volunteers page to learn more about current opportunities and how to sign up. 

Impact and Accountability 

How does LWSF ensure that donations are used effectively? 

LWSF is committed to transparency and accountability. We carefully review and monitor all funded programs and projects. Our Board of Trustees provides governance and oversight, ensuring that funds are allocated effectively, policies are followed, and strategic goals are met. Additionally, our financial statements are reviewed annually by an external auditor to maintain the highest standards of financial integrity.
